Future
Goals of Kashmir Education Foundation
The
establishment of the following educational facilities has been planned by
the Kashmir Education Foundation over the next ten years.
Elementary
Schools
Six
modern elementary day schools for boys and girls (prep to class VIII) will
be set up in selected rural areas of the country, with at least one such
school in each province. Basically these schools will be structured on the
lines of well-known public schools. Admission into them will be for
talented boys and girls largely of poor families of rural background who
cannot afford to send them to good institutions.
Every school will typically have beside administrative facilities, nine
classrooms, each for 25 students. It will have science, audio-visual,
computer and language laboratories, art & craft room, library,
gymnasium, assembly hall, proper sports ground and other recreational
facilities.
The schools will have highly qualified lady teachers who must have done
post graduate teachers’ training diploma course at a teachers training
institute of repute. To attract the best possible talent for the school
faculty, suitable residential accommodation will be provided to the
principal and the non-local lady teachers.
Institute of Teacher Education
Kashmir Education Foundation plans to set up another Institute of Teacher
Education in Karachi for training the teachers from Sindh and Balochistan
province. In addition it is planned to construct a dedicated Secondary
level ITE for subject specialist in the proximity of ITE Pakhowal. The
proposal has been forwarded to Ministry of Education. The Secondary
level ITE will be provisionally established in the vacant space in Soan
Valley Public School Pakhowal Subject to availability of funds. University
of Gloucester has undertaken to extend maximum help for Secondary level
ITE and endorse the diploma of Secondary level ITE, as and when
established.
Colleges
for Girls and Boys
Two
residential colleges, one each for boys and girls, will be set up in
Rawalpindi region with focus on enabling students
who complete their education from the Foundation’s schools,
to continue their education in institutions of excellence up to “A”
level and then prepare for BA/BSc degree in order to enable them to gain admission in top professional
and other institutions within Pakistan as well as outside on merit basis.
The
colleges will be located within a radius of about 30 miles from
Rawalpindi/Islamabad so that the faculty members living in the city could
travel to the campuses within 30 to 40 minutes by bus or car.
During their meeting in November 2000, the Board of Trustees of KEF
decided to upgrade Pearl Valley Public School to the level of GCSE /
Metric during the next two years to enable the talented children to
continue getting high quality education in this school until such time
KEF's own colleges are set up.
