Results of Federal Board Exams - PVPS students excel


Annual Day 2004 Annual Day of PVPS was held on Tuesday September 7, 2004. Mr. Baber Ali, Pro-Chancellor of Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and a renowned industrialist and entrepreneur was the Chief Guest on the the occasion. Many members of Board of Trustees of KEF were also present on the occasion. The function included performances from the school children and prize distribution. Chairman KEF and Principal PVPS presented reports on progress of KEF and PVPS. The Chief Guest in his address praised the standard of education in the school and the efforts of KEF. He announced many incentives for PVPS including full sponsorship for any PVPS student who gets selected on merit in LUMS, seats for PVPS students in School for Calligraphy in Lahore and including PVPS in holding of essay writing competitions.

The Chief Guest also visited Pearl Valley Institute of Teachers Education.

Teachers Training Ms Saira Said Ahmad, Vice Principal of Pearl Valley Public School (PVPS) attended an 8 weeks training program for Principals and Vice Principals at University of Montana, Missoula, MT USA in January this year. Ms Tahira Said Khan, a teacher in PVPS has been selected for an 8 to 12 weeks course for subject specialists in Science and English respectively at Plymouth State University, Plymouth, NH USA commencing in July. 

AQE Workshops
Workshops were organized by Alliance for Quality Education (AQE) in various subjects at Mianwali (Tameer-i-Millat School), Hafizabad (Sufi Foundation School), Mansehra (Agahi School), and Rawalakot (Pearl Valley Public School). PVPS teachers actively participated in these workshops. A junior school teacher of PVPS was nominated for a professional workshop for one month at Rawalpindi under a program arranged by AQE during the summer. Another teacher of PVPS was nominated to attend a 15 day workshop to train Montessori Teachers at Rawalpindi.  The course will be held under the arrangements of London School of Montessori, Rawalpindi.

APID Tests
105 children appeared last October for APID (Assessment for pre-school Intelligence Development) test for Prep Class 2004.  12 boys and 13 girls were selected for admission in the Prep class. APID tests are conducted by an independent team of experts including child psychologists from National Institute of Psychology, Islamabad and experienced teachers with special training.

Affiliation with Agha Khan University Examination Board (AKU-EB)
PVPS will be affiliated with Agha Khan University – Examination Board (AKU – EB) and the present class VIII would appear in AKU-EB 2006 examinations.Mr Mumtaz Memon, Director Coordination AKU-EB visited the school in April to access the school and its facilities.  Dr Thomas Christie, Director AKU-EB also visited the school in June. The required documentation has been sent to AKU-EB for formal approval.  A consultative conference of the Heads of prospective schools was held by AKU-EB in Rawalpindi in June, PVPS’s Principal also participated in this event.

Secondary School Building
The new building of Secondary School is now fully functional giving the additional space to the secondary classes and ITE. Most administrative offices of including Principal’s office and class VIII, IX and X have been shifted to this building. The higher secondary school classes will also be accommodated in this building.

Results of Board Exams - Class IX KEF is pleased to announce that PVPS students of class IX who had appeared in Part I Exam of Secondary School Certificate in the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Islamabad during March - April 2004 have performed extremely well and lived up to the reputation of the school. This was the first exposure of the PVPS students to an Intermediate Examination Board.

Twelve students appeared in the exams; the results are:

a) A-1 (Exceptional) - 90% and above marks  --  2
b) A-1 (Distinction)  - 85 - 89%                   --  1
c) A (Excellent)       - 70 - 84%                   --  8
c) B (Very good)     - 45 - 69%                    --  1

Affan Bin Haleem secured 483 marks out of 525 obtaining first position in the school whereas Sundila secured 479 marks and stood second.

In recognition of their distinction seven students have been awarded scholarships.


2003

Annual Day 2003
KEF Staff Selected for USA Training


 Annual Day 2003 Annual Day 2003 was held on October 17. Students displayed their skills of organizing, event management and stage performance. President Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Maj Gen (Retd.) Sardar Mohammand Anwar Khan was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

The Chief Guest also inaugurated the Secondary School Building and donated Rs. 60,000 towards the school funds.

Diplomas were awarded to graduates of the last ITE course, some of them traveled long distances to be present for the occasion. Ms Bushra Ellahi of Tameer-elMillat School Mianwali was a awarded a shield for obtaining first position.

The children and staff of PVPS presented an excellent variety program to entertain the guests. The themes included religious, literal and poetic, musical, artistic and comical. Children of all the classes were awarded prizes for their academic performances. Mr. Akram Cheema introduced two trophies and a scholorship (Rs. 200 per month for one year) in the name of his parents (IBQ Cheema and N Khan Cheema). The scholorships and trophies were awarded to two students who topped class VIII in their respective genders (Affan Haleem and Sundila Andleeb).

Cadet College Entrance Examinations Three students cleared written exam for PAF College Sargodha and five for Cadet College Palandari. Out of these eight students, one was finally selected for PAF college Sargodha and two for Cadet College Palandari.

Study Trip to Rawalpindi/Islamabad Class V students paid an educational trip to the following places in/around Rawalpindi/Islamabad:

- Pakistan Television Islamabad
- Radio Pakistan
- Offices of daily newspapers "News" and "Jang"
- Islamabad International Airport
- Heavy Mechanical Complex, Taxila
- Taxila Museum
- Ghee/Soap Mills

Academic Divisions of the School To compartmentalize the relevant academic sources for effective utilization, independent coordination and planning by teachers in small groups, the school was academically divided into "Infant", "Primary" and "Pre-Secondary" sections.

  New Faculty Members Ms Afsheen Sagheer, Ms Huma Irshad, Mr. Naseer Iqbal (IT Teacher) and Mr. Naveed Sarwar Shad (English) have joined PVPS faculty. Ms Afsheen Sagheer and Ms Hima Irshad are graduates of Pearl Valley Institute of Teachers Education (PVITE). More Information

 Extension of PVPS Work on extension of existing PVPS building commenced in April 2002 to accommodate secondary level classes. The building is expected to be completed by end of 2003.

Anti-Hepatitis Vaccination All children and staff of PVPS/PVITE received vaccination again hepatitis.

 Food Supplement for School Children Arrangements have been made with different donors to subsidize the diet of PVPS students to fight malnutrition. A glass of milk with vitamin syrup is given to every child daily while iodized salt is provided to their families.

 Visit by Federal Minister Dr. Attiya Inayatullah, Federal Minister for Women Development, Social Welfare and Special Education visited PVPS and PVITE in October 2001. She attended a function organized by school children.

  New Faculty Members Four new faculty members joined PVPS in 2001. Mr. Akhtar Hussain (MSc. Mathematics), Mr. Ismail Mughal (M.A. English Literature), Mr. Raees Ahmed (about to finish his PhD in Bio-Chemistry and Mrs. Raees Ahmed (MSc. Physics).

  Lahore Trip An extensive 9-day long study tour to Lahore was undertaken by class VI and VII, covering 45 sites bearing educational value. These included Lahore Fort, Badshahi Mosque, Minar-e-Pakistan, Jehangir's Tomb, Lahore Museum, Lahore Railway Station, Punjab Assembly Hall, Governor House, Lahore International Airport, Iqbal Museum, Shalimar Gardens, 1965 War Memorials, Jallo Park, Wahga Border, Zoological Gardens, Quaid-e-Azam Library, Children Complex, a Textile Spinning Mill, Mangla Dam and the Motorway.

 
Traffic Week Students observed the last week of May as "Traffic Week". They were given a lecture on Traffic Rules by local Traffic Police Officials.

  Annual Day Annual Day at PVPS was held which was a great success. The students' show on the occasion was appreciated by all the guests and the parents. Mr. Shakeel Ahmad Durrani, Chief Secretary AJ&K, was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

  New Culture and Names for Classes As a part of development of school culture, the classes were given new names. This exercise besides adding a colorful ambience to school has also inculcated a sense of pride in the students.

  New Principal takes over Mr. Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Qadri has taken over as Principal Pearl Valley Public School.

Visit by British members of Parliament Two British members of Parliament, Lord Avebury and Mr. Anthony Coleman visited the Pearl Valley Public School and Institute of Teachers Education and were greatly impressed with the standards achieved.

                          


  PVPS Online The computer lab in the PVPS has been shifted to a bigger room to accommodate 26 computer systems. Computers are also networked. Internet facility would soon be provided to the computer lab.

Director VSO's visit


 Annual Sports Day Annual Sports day was held in Pearl Valley Public School, Rawalakot on 17-18 December, 2000. 

                                        


  Director VSO's visit Mr. Peter Emminson, Director VSO (Talent) visited the Pearl Valley Public School and Institute of Teachers Education in August , 2000. He greatly admired the standards and offered continued support for the pilot project.
